Is Rahul Dravid ready for a Bollywood debut? Click to know what he has to say about post-coaching life
At a recent event in Mumbai, cricket legend Rahul Dravid showcased his humorous side, leaving the audience in splits with his witty responses. When asked who he would choose to portray him in a biopic, Dravid quipped, “If the money is good enough, I will play it myself.” The former Indian cricket captain’s light-hearted remark quickly went viral on social media, with fans joking that Dravid might just make his Bollywood debut.
Dravid, who recently stepped down as the head coach of Team India after guiding them to victory in the T20 World Cup, humorously referred to himself as “jobless” several times during the event. He even urged the audience to send him emails with job suggestions. “My wife wants me to stay at home and take care of our boys,” he added with a smile.
Reflecting on his tenure as head coach, Dravid emphasized that success in major tournaments often requires a combination of skill and luck. He recalled two crucial finals during his nearly three-year stint as coach—one in Ahmedabad and the other in Barbados. In the 2023 World Cup final, despite a strong performance by India’s bowlers, Australia’s Travis Head managed to survive and lead his team to victory. “We beat his bat 15 times, but sometimes luck isn’t on your side,” Dravid said, adding that sometimes all you can do is stick to the process and hope for the best.
Dravid also reminisced about India’s thrilling comeback against South Africa in the T20 World Cup final. With South Africa needing just 30 runs from the last five overs, India managed to defend their total, thanks to a stunning catch by Suryakumar Yadav that turned the game in India’s favor. Dravid praised the calmness and execution displayed by captain Rohit Sharma and the team during those tense moments.
Despite falling short in the 2023 World Cup, Dravid expressed pride in India’s journey and the passion of the fans across the country. He credited the team’s T20 World Cup success to maintaining the same energy and atmosphere, combined with a little bit of luck. Dravid concluded by expressing confidence in the future of Indian cricket, led by the next generation of players like Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav.
