Pune: Residents of Kalyani Nagar area are in distress as several electricity cables keep lying haphazardly near D-Mart & other areas of Kalyani Nagar, posing a safety threat to residents.

As per information shared by Kalyani Nagar residents, on November 24 at 8:47 a.m. a commuter was seen moving the cable from the road and tightening the cable to the tree, saving the lives of others. The residents are thankful to such people who don’t think whether it’s their responsibility or not like the authorities. The problem at hand involves the dangerous accumulation of cables blocking roads in the area. This hazardous situation poses a severe threat to the safety of both commuters and pedestrians. It is disheartening to note that the complaints the people have filed seem to not get noticed and the authorities respond with a bureaucratic runaround. The lack of accountability and responsibility on the part of PMC officials is not only disappointing but also poses a real risk of injury to those who navigate these blocked roads daily.

The concern goes beyond inconvenience; it is a matter of public safety. It is high time the authorities recognize the severity of the situation and take immediate action to clear these hazardous cables. The responsibility should not be shifted from one department to another; rather, the issue should be escalated to the officers who have the authority to address and rectify it. Residents should not suffer due to the inefficiency and negligence of the authorities.

Somnath Bankar, Assistant Municipal Commissioner, PMC Nagar Road Vadgaon Sheri Ward Office said, “We will inspect the issue on the location & remove the electric cables soon.”
