PCMC plans to establish charging stations at 22 locations : fourth tender to be floated

Pune: To cater to the needs of the city’s residents, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has devised a plan to establish charging stations at 22 locations in order to offer electric vehicle charging services. These stations will be operated by private agencies.
As per the information provided, private agencies have failed to participate in the tender process for establishing charging stations on three separate occasions within the past year and a half.
Consequently, the terms and conditions of the tender will be modified, and the tender will be reissued for the fourth time before the end of this month.
As per the information received, the Pimpri-Chinchwad sub-regional transport office has registered around 30,000 e-vehicles in the city. The authorities have decided on 22 sites for electric vehicle charging stations. Independent organizations intend to offer charging services for electric vehicles at affordable prices using the build, operate, and own (BOO) framework. These agencies will solely receive land from the municipal corporation.
The agency must bear the cost of obtaining power supply from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company for a duration of 8 years. Additionally, they are responsible for establishing and managing an electric vehicle charging station on the provided land.
The PCMC intends to allocate work to the agency that provides the highest level of revenue distribution, obligating the agency to pay a portion of the revenue sharing amount to the corporation at the maximum limit rate for the customers via this medium.
Over the past 18 months, the process of establishing EV charging stations has undergone three rounds of tendering. Unfortunately, private agencies have not responded to the tenders due to the strict conditions outlined in them. As a result, the municipal administration has initiated the process of revising the terms and conditions of the tender in order to attract more interest from private agencies.
The PCMC has designated 22 parking areas to install electric vehicle charging stations. These locations include the premises of PCMC, the vicinity of Citrus Hotel in Pimpri, Durgadevi Hill Nigdi, Vahatuk Nagari, Major DhyanChand Hockey Stadium Nehru Nagar, Konkan Chowk near Nisarga Nirman Society Reliance Mart, Pimple Saudagar, RTO Office, Chikhali, Bird Valley Sambhaji nagar, International Wrestling Complex Bhosari, Sewage Disposal Center Chikhali, Landewadi Nashik Road-Telco Road Junction, Bhakti Shakti Bus Terminal Nigdi, Near Bajaj Auto, HA Company Subway, near Sant Tukaram Metro Station’s fourth entrance, P K. Chowk, Pimple Saudagar, Yoga Park Vibgyor School Pimple Saudagar, Rajmata Jijamata Garden Parking Prabhat Nagar, Pimple Gurav, Sant Nagar Udyan Kasarwadi, B.D. Killedar Garden, VallabhNagar, Auto Cluster, Science Park, and Rajshri Shahu Garden.
