The much-anticipated trailer for Koratala Siva’s film, Devara: Part 1, featuring Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor, made its debut in Mumbai on Tuesday. At the event, Karan Johar reflected on the collaborative spirit that brought this project to life. He reminisced about Jr NTR’s support during the 2022 release of Brahmastra, a film produced by Ayan Mukherji and starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Johar praised Jr NTR for his generous assistance in promoting Brahmastra in the south, noting, “I remember when he had presented Brahmastra to everyone in Hyderabad. It was a big moment for us, such a massive megastar going out of his way to speak of another film.”

Johar highlighted that Jr NTR’s involvement had a significant positive effect on the film’s performance in southern India, saying, “And he really impacted the box office of Brahmastra, even in the south. And for that, we are all eternally grateful. There are so many friends attached to this journey, not just Tarak. I told him that this was not the end of this relationship. This is the beginning of a new one, and he knows what I’m talking about.”

The filmmaker also touched on the bond between his children, Yash and Roohi, and Saif and Kareena Kapoor’s kids, Taimur and Jeh, referring to their friendship as a ‘legacy friendship’. Johar expressed pride in Janhvi Kapoor’s performance in the film, describing her as a ‘child beaming in gold’ due to her attire at the launch. He commended her for her hard work, saying, “And for me, I felt like a proud papa when she actually started performing. And matching steps with Tarak is no easy task like she really gave it her absolute best.”

Devara: Part 1 is set to release on September 27 and will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. Jr NTR stars in dual roles as Devara and his son Varadha, with Saif Ali Khan playing Bhaira and Janhvi Kapoor portraying Thangam. The film also features Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, and Narain.
