Mumbai, India – Kesari Patil, the visionary founder of Kesari Tours, passed away at the age of 90 in the early hours of Saturday due to age-related ailments. His demise marks the end of an era in India’s tourism industry, where he played a pivotal role in making travel accessible to middle-class families.

A former teacher turned entrepreneur, Kesari Patil founded Kesari Tours in 1984 with a mission to promote affordable travel. Through his relentless dedication and innovation, he transformed the company into a global name in the tourism sector. His daughter, Veena Patil, later carried forward his legacy but eventually branched out to establish Veena World, further expanding the reach of affordable travel experiences.
Final Rites and Tributes
Kesari Patil’s mortal remains will be kept for public viewing at his Bandra residence from 4 PM to 6 PM on Saturday, following which the last rites will be conducted at Shivaji Park Crematorium.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed deep sorrow over his demise, calling him a beacon of Maharashtra’s tourism industry. “Kesari Patil ignited a passion for travel among Maharashtrians and played a crucial role in shaping India’s global tourism presence,” Shinde shared in a heartfelt tribute on social media platform X.
