KPIT Technologies Chairman And Pune Industry Leader Passes Away
Ravi Pandit, co-founder and chairman of KPIT Technologies, passed away in Pune on May 8, 2026. He played a major role in building KPIT into a global automotive software company and contributed to several civic and sustainability initiatives.
Ravi Pandit, the co-founder and long-serving chairman of KPIT Technologies, passed away in Pune on Thursday morning, the company confirmed in an official stock exchange filing.
Ravi Pandit was widely recognised as one of Pune’s leading technology entrepreneurs and business visionaries. He co-founded KPIT Technologies, formerly known as KPIT Cummins, in 1990 along with Kishor Patil.
An alumnus of the MIT Sloan School of Management, Pandit played a key role in transforming KPIT from a small IT and consulting company into a globally recognised automotive and mobility software engineering firm.
Over the last three decades, KPIT expanded its operations across 15 countries and became known for its engineering and software solutions used in millions of vehicles across Asia, Europe and the United States.
Apart from his contributions to the technology sector, Ravi Pandit was actively involved in civic development, education and sustainability initiatives in Pune and across India. He was associated with organisations such as Pune International Centre and Janwani, which focus on public policy, governance and urban issues.
He also supported research and policy work through the Centre for Sustainable Development at Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics and served as President of Jnana Prabodhini.
Pandit was also a board member of Thermax Ltd and contributed to environmental and rural development efforts through organisations including World Resources Institute India and Aga Khan Rural Support Programme India.
His passing is being mourned across the technology industry, business community and civic organisations in Pune.
