Leopard Carries Off 5-Year-Old Girl in Front of Her Family in Ahilyanagar Village, Search Operation Underway
Ahilyanagar: A shocking incident unfolded in Karjune Khare village in Ahilyanagar taluka on Tuesday evening when a leopard picked up a five-year-old girl in front of her family and disappeared into the fields.
The child, identified as Riyanka Sunil Pawar, was playing near a group of agricultural labourers who had gathered around a fire at about 6:30 pm to keep warm. According to early reports, the leopard emerged suddenly from a nearby field, grabbed Riyanka and fled before anyone could react. The family tried to scare the animal away by shouting, but their efforts didn’t work.
Villagers rushed to the spot after hearing about the attack and began searching the surrounding area. Police and Forest Department teams joined the operation and continued the search late into the night. Riyanka had not been found at the time this report was filed.
The incident has left the village deeply shaken, and rising leopard sightings have increased fear among residents in the region.
