IMD Warns of Heatwave-Like Conditions in Parts of State Amid Fluctuating Weather Patterns, Maharashtra Weather Update: तापमान 40°C पार जाण्याची शक्यता, एप्रिल तिसऱ्या आठवड्यात उष्णतेची लाटMaharashtra may witness a sharp rise in temperatures above 40°C in the third week of April, with IMD warning of intense heat and fluctuating weather conditions across regions.

Pune, April 6, 2026: After experiencing unseasonal rain and hailstorms in the first week of April, Maharashtra is now set to witness a sharp rise in temperatures, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicating a possible heat surge in the third week of the month.

According to weather officials, several regions across the state are likely to experience soaring temperatures exceeding 40°C. North Maharashtra and Marathwada, in particular, may see temperatures ranging between 40°C and 42°C, prompting authorities to advise citizens to take precautions.

In the second week of April, Vidarbha is expected to receive rainfall accompanied by gusty winds, while the rest of the state will continue to experience rising heat levels. Despite the increase in temperatures, a full-fledged heatwave may not develop; however, conditions could resemble heatwave-like discomfort in certain areas.

Meteorologists attribute the fluctuating weather to multiple factors, including cyclonic circulation over South India, western disturbances originating from Pakistan and Afghanistan, and the inflow of warm, humid winds from the Arabian Sea. This combination is leading to contrasting weather conditions—intense heat in some regions and rainfall in others.

The IMD has also cautioned that residents may face a dual weather impact in April, with hot afternoons followed by possible evening showers in certain areas. Citizens have been advised to avoid stepping out between 12 PM and 4 PM unless necessary and to stay hydrated.

Additionally, weather experts note that post-April 15 developments in pre-monsoon conditions will play a crucial role in determining the progression of the upcoming monsoon. Early indications suggest a possibility of a delayed monsoon arrival this year, along with concerns of below-normal rainfall.

The IMD is expected to release a detailed monsoon forecast soon.
