Maharashtra CM Orders Cancellation Of Charholi Town Planning Scheme
Pune, June 18, 2025: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the cancellation of the Charholi town planning scheme, emphasizing that the Pimpri Chinchwad region must be developed with a well-planned vision considering the next 50 years. He stressed that while planning for the city, it is essential to involve the public and respond to the demands of elected representatives and citizens.
The CM was speaking at the inauguration of various development projects, including the unveiling of the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Namdev Maharaj statues and the Sant-srushti complex at Wadmukhwadi on the Pune-Alandi Palkhi route. Also inaugurated were the Sant Peeth auditorium, art gallery, and other urban projects by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
He praised Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj for laying the foundation of the Warkari movement and Sant Tukaram Maharaj for carrying it forward. He noted that the teachings of Sant Namdev Maharaj reached as far as Punjab and were included in the Sikh holy scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib. The sculpture represents the universal spirit of the Warkari tradition.
The CM also spoke about the state’s commitment to river conservation, especially making 100% of the water entering the Indrayani River fully treated under the AMRUT scheme. Two sewage treatment plants are in progress, and funding is being made available.

Fadnavis appreciated the new climbing wall built for athletes at Pimple Saudagar and assured that the state government will support the expansion of the Sant Peeth to spread the values of the Bhakti movement alongside CBSE education.
He also highlighted two major policing initiatives: the ‘Jyeshthanubandh’ app for senior citizens and the AI-based ‘Intelligent Traffic Management System’ to improve city traffic.
Several development projects were inaugurated online by the CM, including flyovers, bridges, schools, hospitals, roads, fire stations, sewage treatment plants, and multilevel parking in areas like Chikhli, Pimple Nilakh, Dighi, Charholi, Bhosari, and Thergaon.
