A severe heatwave is set to grip several parts of Maharashtra as temperatures continue to rise sharply towards the end of April. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for parts of Vidarbha and a yellow alert for nearby districts on April 27, warning of extreme heat conditions.
Authorities have advised citizens to avoid stepping out between 12 PM and 4 PM, as daytime temperatures are expected to soar between 40°C and 44°C in several regions.
Vidarbha Braces for Heatwave
The Vidarbha region is expected to witness the most intense conditions, with districts such as Akola, Amravati, and Wardha under orange alert. Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara, and Buldhana have been placed under yellow alert. No rainfall is expected on Monday, though weather activity may resume from April 28.
Konkan to Remain Hot and Humid
The Konkan region, including Mumbai and Thane, will continue to experience hot and humid weather, with maximum temperatures ranging between 32°C and 35°C. High humidity levels may cause discomfort and excessive sweating.
Rising Temperatures Across State
In central Maharashtra, including Pune, weather conditions will remain dry and clear, but temperatures are expected to climb between 38°C and 42°C, with warm nights adding to discomfort.
Marathwada will also witness intense heat, with temperatures ranging from 39°C to 43°C, while North Maharashtra districts such as Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, and Nandurbar will continue to experience dry and hot conditions.
No Immediate Relief from Heat
The weather department has indicated that no rainfall is expected in most parts of the state, intensifying the heatwave impact. However, parts of Vidarbha may see a return of unseasonal weather activity starting April 28.
