Mumbai, February 12, 2026: NCP MLA Amol Mitkari has raised fresh concerns over the fatal plane crash that killed Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others, by sending a letter directly to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Mitkari, in a post on social media platform X, stated that after watching a press conference by Rohit Pawar, he believes some of the doubts he had earlier raised are partly substantiated.

He urged that, as requested by Rohit Pawar, the crash should be immediately investigated by an independent external agency. “I have personally handed a letter to the Chief Minister. I have no doubt that he will ensure a thorough investigation into the deliberate conspiracy behind his close friend’s untimely death,” Mitkari said in his post.

Earlier, Mitkari had claimed that VSR Venture, the charter company involved in the crash, had insured each of its pilots for ₹50 crore in December 2025, information he said he received from reliable sources.

The crash near Baramati airport on January 28 claimed the lives of five people, including Ajit Pawar. Rohit Pawar, Ajit Pawar’s nephew, has suggested that the incident may not have been an accident but a deliberate act, demanding a detailed investigation involving technical experts, including those from France, the US, or the UK.

On February 11, a four-member team of senior DGCA officials visited the Baramati crash site to examine CCTV footage and video recordings related to the incident as part of the ongoing investigation.

The development has intensified calls for a comprehensive external probe into the circumstances surrounding the tragic crash.
