Sangli, Dec.01: The Maharashtra State Government Employees Association (SGEA) announced on Thursday that total 17 lakh government employees will go on indefinite strike from December 14 for their demands including to implement old pension scheme, to regularise contractual employees and to fill vacancies.

Addressing a press conference here this evening, P N Kale and D G Mulani, conveners of the State
Coordination Committee, said that a memorandum of various demands along with strike agitation has already been sent to state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Kale said that Shinde had earlier assured that the government would enforce the old pension scheme following indefinite strike in March 2023 and blamed the government for failing to take a policy decision on their demands in last six months.

Hence, the Committee took a decision of indefinite strike from December 14, he added.
Earlier, a delegation of SGEA met district collector and handed over a memorandum of their demands and of indefinite strike to him, Kale added.
