Maharashtra Weather Alert For May 12: IMD Issues Yellow Alert For 6 Districts
Maharashtra, February 16, 2026: A shift in weather patterns across Maharashtra has triggered a heat alert, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a rise in temperatures and heatwave-like conditions in several regions of the state.
Although the current western disturbance is primarily affecting North India, Maharashtra is expected to experience fluctuating weather due to moist winds and local atmospheric changes. Most parts of the state will continue to witness dry and warm conditions, while a few areas may see partly cloudy skies.
Konkan and Mumbai Metropolitan Region
The Konkan coast, including Mumbai and Thane, is likely to experience hot and humid weather. Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 32°C and 34°C, while minimum temperatures may hover between 24°C and 26°C. Skies will remain mostly clear to partly cloudy. Residents are advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during afternoon hours.
Western Maharashtra
Western parts of the state may see partly cloudy conditions, with maximum temperatures ranging from 31°C to 34°C and minimum temperatures between 18°C and 22°C. Humidity levels are expected to remain high in the ghat regions, increasing discomfort, while plains will largely remain dry.
North Maharashtra
Districts in North Maharashtra are likely to experience predominantly dry and hot weather. Maximum temperatures could rise to 36°C, with minimum temperatures between 18°C and 22°C. Rainfall is not expected. Farmers have been advised to manage irrigation carefully to protect standing crops.
Marathwada Region
In districts such as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Nanded, Latur, and Hingoli, temperatures are expected to climb between 36°C and 38°C during the day. Nights may remain relatively cooler, ranging from 17°C to 20°C. Conditions will remain dry with no rainfall forecast.
Vidarbha Region
Vidarbha is likely to face intense heat, especially in and around Nagpur. Maximum temperatures may range from 34°C to 37°C, with clear skies prevailing. Afternoon conditions may resemble a heatwave, although no official heatwave warning has yet been issued.
Overall, Maharashtra is witnessing summer-like conditions as early as February. The IMD has predicted a further rise of 2–4°C in temperatures over the next few days, urging citizens to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
