Maharashtra Weather Alert For May 26: Thunderstorms, Lightning and Heatwave Warning Issued for 23 Districts
Maharashtra: Maharashtra is witnessing another major shift in weather conditions, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing multiple alerts across the state for heatwave conditions, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over the next 24 hours.
According to the latest weather update, yellow alerts for heatwave conditions have been issued in six districts across the Konkan region, Mumbai Metropolitan Region, and parts of Vidarbha. At the same time, yellow alerts for rainfall and thunderstorms have been announced for 11 districts in Western Maharashtra and Marathwada. In Vidarbha, four districts have been placed under red alert for extreme heat, while two districts remain under orange alert.

In the Konkan region, Palghar, Thane, and Mumbai districts are likely to witness a rise in temperatures and humid conditions. Meanwhile, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg may experience light to moderate rainfall in isolated areas due to changing weather patterns.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for rain in Pune, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, and Solapur districts in Western Maharashtra. These areas are expected to receive thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds. Authorities have advised citizens and farmers to remain cautious during unstable weather conditions.
In the Marathwada region, Beed, Latur, and Dharashiv districts are also under a yellow alert for rainfall. While no official alert has been issued for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, and Nanded, light rainfall is expected in some areas, bringing temporary relief from the intense heat.
Vidarbha continues to face severe heatwave conditions, with red alerts issued for Amravati, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Wardha districts. Officials have warned residents to avoid stepping outdoors during afternoon hours due to the increasing risk of heatstroke and dehydration.
Additionally, Nagpur and Akola districts remain under an orange alert for heatwave conditions, while Bhandara, Gondia, and Yavatmal are under yellow alert. Citizens in these regions have been advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
The weather department has predicted unstable weather conditions across Maharashtra over the next two days, with some regions likely to experience heatwave conditions while others may receive stormy rainfall. Residents have been urged to follow official weather advisories and take necessary precautions.
