Maharashtra , May 5, 2026: The India Meteorological Department has issued a dual weather alert for Maharashtra, warning of both intense heatwave conditions and unseasonal rainfall in parts of the state. A yellow alert has been issued for seven districts on May 6, indicating potentially disruptive weather conditions.

While five districts are under a heatwave warning, two districts have been placed under a yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by rain. Although no official alert has been issued for Solapur and Nanded, light to moderate rainfall is likely in these regions. The rest of the state is expected to experience predominantly hot and dry weather.
Konkan Region: High Humidity and Heat Alert
Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg are under a yellow alert for heatwave conditions. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 34°C and 37°C, while minimum temperatures may hover between 26°C and 29°C. High humidity levels are likely to intensify discomfort.
Western Maharashtra: Dry Conditions, Rising Temperatures
Districts including Pune, Satara, Sangli, and Kolhapur will witness mainly dry weather. Pune is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 39°C and a minimum of 22°C. Hot winds during afternoon hours may add to the discomfort. Solapur may see slight weather changes with chances of light to moderate rainfall, though no alert has been issued.
North Maharashtra: Heatwave Persists
Regions such as Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Ahilyanagar are likely to experience intense heat, with maximum temperatures ranging between 38°C and 40°C and minimum temperatures around 24°C.
Marathwada: Rain Alert in Select Districts
Dharashiv and Latur districts are under a yellow alert for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds. Temperatures may range between 38°C and 40°C. Nanded may also receive light to moderate rainfall despite no official alert.
Vidarbha: Severe Heat Conditions
Most districts including Nagpur, Amravati, Chandrapur, Akola, and Yavatmal will continue to face hot and dry weather. Nagpur is likely to record temperatures as high as 42°C, with minimum temperatures around 27°C. Heatwave conditions are expected to peak during afternoon hours.
Advisory for Citizens
Authorities have urged residents to take precautions amid rising temperatures. Citizens are advised to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours to prevent heat-related illnesses.
