Maharashtra Weather News: Heavy Rainfall Expected in Mumbai and Multiple Districts
Mumbai and several other districts in Maharashtra are experiencing heavy rainfall. According to the Meteorological Department, the intensity of the rain is expected to increase in the next three to four hours. The weather department has issued warnings and alerts for multiple districts across the state.
Rain Alerts Issued for Various Districts
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Ratnagiri, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, and Satara, predicting heavy rainfall. Additionally, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Sindhudurg, Pune, Amravati, Nagpur, and Wardha have been placed under an orange alert. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are also expected in these regions. Other districts such as Ahmednagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, and Nanded have received rain warnings as well.
Rain Alert for Pune
Pune is expected to experience light showers today, with heavy rainfall in isolated areas on the Ghats, as predicted by the weather department. The Konkan and Vidarbha regions are also likely to see heavy rainfall. For the past week, the Konkan coastal areas have been experiencing continuous heavy rain. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for six districts across the state due to the significant rainfall.
Increased Rainfall Predicted for Mumbai
In Mumbai, the rain has been persistent since midnight, leading to waterlogging in low-lying areas. The Meteorological Department predicts a significant increase in rainfall over the next few hours. Citizens are advised to remain cautious and vigilant due to the expected heavy downpour.
Since this morning, heavy rain has caused two to three feet of water accumulation in Andheri Subway, leading to its closure for traffic. Similar waterlogging issues have been reported in other low-lying areas of Mumbai.
Rain Forecast for the Next Four Days
The weather department forecasts light to moderate rain in Mumbai until 22 July.
