Mahashivratri Celebrations At Jejuri: Rare Gupt Ling Darshan Draws Devotees In Pune
Jejuri, home to Maharashtra’s revered deity Lord Khandoba, witnessed a grand Mahashivratri celebration on Wednesday. In the early hours, the Triloki Shivling at Khandoba Fort was unveiled for devotees.
From dawn, thousands of worshippers queued up for darshan, chanting “Har Har Mahadev” and “Yelkot Sadanand”, filling Malhargad with divine energy. The festival holds special significance in Jejuri’s Khanderaya Yatra, where three sacred Shivlings—Swargaloki (celestial), Patalaloki (subterranean), and Bhuloki (earthly)—are revealed. Notably, the Swargaloki and Patalaloki Shivlings are opened only on Mahashivratri, remaining closed throughout the year.
A grand Mahapuja was conducted in the temple, attended by priests, trustees, and devotees. Darshan of Triloki Shivling began at 3 AM, drawing an overwhelming crowd. The temple trust, represented by officials like Abhijit Devkate, Adv. Vishwas Panse, Dr. Rajendra Khedekar, and others, ensured smooth arrangements.
As part of the celebrations, Khichdi prasad was distributed to devotees from morning, continuing throughout the day.
