Chinchwad, October 29, 2024 – Shankar Jagtap, the official candidate of the Mahayuti alliance (comprising BJP, Shiv Sena, NCP, and RPI – Athawale faction) for the Chinchwad assembly constituency, commenced his campaign today in Thergaon. The kickoff event started with a traditional ceremony at the Ganesh Temple in Ganesh Nagar, followed by a grand procession through various neighborhoods.
The event saw strong support from prominent Mahayuti leaders, including former Deputy Mayor Zhamatai Barne, Chinchwad constituency campaign head Kaluram Barne, former corporators Siddheshwar Barne and Santosh Barne, Shiv Sena’s Western Maharashtra Youth Secretary Vishwajit Barne, and RPI city president Kunal Vhawalkar, among others. They were joined by numerous supporters and local citizens.

Following Jagtap’s nomination filing on October 28, the procession today covered key areas, including Lokmanya Colony, Durga Colony, Ganpati Mandir Road, and several others, where Jagtap greeted residents and sought their blessings for victory.
Thergaon’s residents showed enthusiastic support, with women performing traditional aarti rituals, and citizens welcoming Jagtap with drumbeats and firecrackers. During the procession, Jagtap visited local religious and social sites, receiving warm receptions from community members along the way.
The campaign’s strong start highlights Mahayuti’s unity and Jagtap’s wide local support ahead of the election.
