Mahindra Launches XUV 3XO EV at ₹13.89 Lakh, Expands Mass-Market Electric Push
Electric version of Mahindra’s fastest-selling SUV targets urban buyers, deliveries from February 23
Mahindra & Mahindra has expanded its electric vehicle portfolio with the launch of the XUV 3XO EV, marking a key step in the company’s strategy to bring EVs deeper into the mass market. Priced from ₹13.89 lakh (ex-showroom), the electric SUV is positioned as a city-focused alternative to the petrol and diesel XUV 3XO, which has already emerged as one of Mahindra’s strongest sellers.
The XUV 3XO EV comes just a day after Mahindra unveiled the XUV 7XO, signalling an aggressive product rollout across powertrains. The company said the electric variant was developed in response to strong customer demand for an EV option within the popular XUV 3XO range, which was introduced in April 2024 and has clocked close to 1.8 lakh units in sales so far.
The electric model will be offered in two variants—AX5 and AX7L—and deliveries are scheduled to begin from February 23, 2026. Mahindra is clearly targeting urban and intra-city users who want the familiarity and space of a compact SUV without the running costs and emissions of an internal combustion engine.
Built on the same platform as the ICE XUV 3XO, the EV retains the exterior design, cabin layout and most core features of the petrol and diesel versions. The key difference lies under the hood, where the internal combustion engine has been replaced with an electric powertrain optimised for everyday city driving. This approach allows Mahindra to leverage an already successful product while offering customers a cleaner mobility option.
The XUV 3XO EV is powered by a 39.4 kWh battery pack, delivering a real-world driving range of up to 285 km. It produces 110 kW of power and 310 Nm of torque, figures that place it competitively within the subcompact electric SUV segment. Mahindra has equipped the vehicle with Level 2 ADAS, Adrenox connected car technology with over 80 features, a Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.
Industry watchers see the launch as a calculated move to strengthen Mahindra’s presence in the affordable EV space, which is currently dominated by Tata Motors’ Nexon EV and Punch EV. Within Mahindra’s own lineup, the XUV 3XO EV will sit below the XUV400 EV, offering a more accessible entry point for customers considering a Mahindra electric SUV for daily use.
Mahindra executives have indicated that the broader EV market remains structurally strong despite short-term moderation in demand. The company believes that each new launch helps expand the category rather than cannibalise existing volumes. With many EV prices now approaching parity with internal combustion models, Mahindra expects adoption to rise steadily, especially in urban centres.
With back-to-back launches across petrol, diesel and electric segments, Mahindra is signalling a clear intent to maintain momentum in India’s fast-growing SUV and EV markets. The XUV 3XO EV, backed by an already proven brand name, could play a significant role in making electric SUVs a more mainstream choice for Indian buyers.
