Major Accident : Head-On Collision between Innova and Nano Car in Malshej Ghat : Innova falls into 30 feet deep gorge

An unfortunate incident occurred at the beginning of Malshej Ghat in Thane district, where an Innova car and a Nano car collided head-on within the Phangulgavhan village limits. Thankfully, there were no casualties, but the Innova car plunged into a nearby 30-foot stream. All occupants of the vehicle were successfully rescued.

The accident took place on the Kalyan-Ahmednagar highway, as the Innova and Nano cars were traveling from Mumbai towards the Malshej Ghat area, which lies on the border of Pune and Thane districts. The collision resulted in substantial damage to both vehicles, but all passengers were safely ejected. Unfortunately, the Innova car ended up in the stream adjacent to the ghat.

As a result of the incident, there was a surge of activity in the ghat area, prompting the administration to implement Section 144. Authorities have urged caution to pedestrians and travellers visiting the ghat. This tragic accident serves as a poignant reminder of the hazards associated with monsoon season in the Malshej Ghat region. Slippery roads caused by fog and drizzle have heightened the risk of vehicular accidents.
