Make Your Toilets Shine without Manual Scrubbing: Homemade “Magic Liquid” Toilet Hack Costing Less Than ₹10
The scrub-free toilet cleaning trick promises shine and freshness, but improper use of household ingredients can pose health risks.
A viral cleaning hack claiming to make toilets shine without scrubbing has caught wide attention on social media and lifestyle portals. The method promotes a homemade “magic liquid” prepared using common kitchen ingredients such as baking soda, salt, lemon juice and camphor, poured into an old plastic bottle and placed upside down inside the toilet flush tank. With each flush, a small amount of the solution is released into the bowl, allegedly breaking stains and controlling odour over time.
The ingredients work together to break down stains and neutralize odors, especially when left to soak in the flush tank.
Ingredients
1 glass of water
2 tablespoons of salt
1 tablespoon of baking soda
Juice of one lemon
1-2 camphor tablets, crushed into powder
An old plastic bottle with a lid
After preparing this mixture, close the bottle cap tightly. Then heat a needle or nail and make 2 to 3 holes in the bottle cap. This technique will make your work easier. Then turn the bottle upside down and place it in a corner inside the toilet flush tank. By keeping it upside down, the mixture will slowly mix with the tank water and the toilet will remain clean.
With each flush, a small amount of the cleaning mixture will be released into the toilet bowl, helping to keep it clean and odor-free over time without the need for regular scrubbing with a brush. This method relies on the “dwell time” of the cleaning agents to do the work, so it’s a lazy yet effective way to maintain a clean toilet.
However, Experts stress that while baking soda and salt are generally safe on their own, combining them with commercial toilet cleaners inside a closed flush tank is risky and not recommended.
