Manu Bhaker’s Coach Heartbreaking Truth: No Salary for 3 Years

Manu Bhaker's Coach Heartbreaking Truth: No Salary for 3 Years
Jaspal Rana, the coach of renowned Indian shooter Manu Bhaker, has made a startling revelation about his financial troubles. Rana disclosed that he has not been paid for his work over the past three years, a period during which Bhaker has achieved significant milestones in shooting sports.
Rana, who has been instrumental in Bhaker’s rise to fame, expressed his distress over the situation. “Manu is the star, I am just a jobless coach. I am nobody. Manu made me relevant by asking me to help her,” Rana said. “I need to find a job soon; these three years have been very tough for me. I never wanted to talk about this. Anyone going to get me a job, I have to ask around when I get back to India.”
Despite his critical role in Bhaker’s success, Rana has faced severe financial hardship. He added, “I never did anything wrong, I was not even in Tokyo. Can people who abused me and trolled me get me back my peace? No, never.” His frustration was evident as he choked up during the conversation, reflecting the emotional toll of his situation.
The coach also expressed uncertainty about his future, saying, “I don’t know what is in store in my life. I will wait till I return to India. Till Manu finishes her last two matches, I will be around. I need a job; to be unemployed for three years hurts.”
The stark contrast between Bhaker’s achievements and Rana’s struggles has drawn significant attention on social media. Ishrat Singh, also known as Sahir, highlighted the issue with a poignant tweet: “I am nobody, have had no salary for 3 years”: @ManuBhaker01’s Coach Jaspal Rana. For the next time anyone wants to compare Olympic medals & population of countries, the 2 bronze medals are bigger than gold.”
Similarly, PK Mukherjee voiced his concerns, noting, “Jaspal Rana’s financial struggle despite his crucial role in Indian shooting sports highlights a serious issue. We must address this injustice.”
Rana’s predicament underscores a broader issue within the sports support system, emphasizing the need for better financial support and recognition for coaches who play a vital role in helping athletes achieve their best.
