Mechanical systems to clean septic tanks to replace humans
In the next three months, a mechanical system will be in place for cleaning of septic tanks and the need for workers to do it manually will be eradicated, said Chandrakant Indalkar, deputy commissioner, Urban development department, PCMC.
“We have taken this decision keeping in mind the safety of the workers. Cleaning equipment and other related things will be provided to the workers,” he said.
As per sources, robots will be used to clean manholes. To know more about this initiative, people can call the helpline number 14420.
