Front gate of Vishrambaug Wada will be open soon!
The front side of the historic structure of the Vishrambaug Wada was under renovation and is expected to be completed around June, this year. Built during the fag end of the Peshwas’ rule, the wada got its name because there was a garden in front of the wada then.

The renovation of the back side and the second floor will start later this year, said sources. Unique weapons and swords are kept locked in the second floor. Though the back gate of the wada has been open since August 15, 2022, not many are aware of it.
“Many residents don’t know that vishrambaug is open from 15 aug 2022 because they see the front gate closed. Renovation on the front side will be completed soon and then work on the back side will start,” said Supriya Khopkar, Security Guard Vishrambaug Wada.
Sunil Mohite, officer, heritage cell, PMC said that renovation work will be completed this year. “The work is done in phases because PMC gets funds in installments,” he said.
