Aundh and Baner residents will now have to get used to using the traffic diversion on the Baner road for the next three years, with the Maha Metro beginning the work shortly.

According to the officials at the Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority handling the section from Maan to Shivaji nagar, the Baner Aundh corridor will begin with the base columns soon as soon as the traffic is smoother allowing for pile casting work to begin.

“The Metro line 3 begins from Hinjewadi to Shivaji nagar and passes through passes through Balewadi stadium, Balewadi high street, Balewadi phata, Baner gaon, NCL, Baner phata, Yashada/ Sakal nagar to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), of the 23 kms of the Metro,” said Rinaj Pathan, Superintendeing Engineer Metro PMRDA.

For this the PMRDA has barricaded 8 to 10 kms along the Baner road and finished 130 pile/ columns for the metro in section one from Maan, Hinjewadi.

There will be seven stations in the section from Balewadi to until Sakalnagar each planned approximately 800 to 1.25 kms away along the Metro route.

Pathan estimates 40 months of construction and the diversion for the traffic to and from Baner to continue for 3 years.
