Pune: A drug smuggling operation involving Mephedrone has been effectively busted by the joint efforts of the Military Intelligence Unit of the Southern Command of the army and the anti-narcotics cell of the Pune Police.

As per the information provided, four individuals, namely Anneet Bipin Khade, Chaitanya Shivaji Sawle, Sarth Virendra Khare, and Vishal Kamlesh Mehta, have been arrested in connection with the smuggling, while Anush Jotiba Mane of Ghorpade Peth is currently missing.

The operation was initiated based on information that the accused individuals were involved in drug trafficking and were also supplying drugs within army establishments. 

The seized inventory includes Mephedrone, with an estimated value of Rs 2,14,000 in the Indian market and approximately Rs 6.7 lakh in the international market, as well as four mobile phones valued at Rs 1, 10, 000.

The FIR has been registered at Khadak Police Station, following a complaint lodged by Assistant Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Laxman Ghorpade.
