MNS Opposes PMPML's Proposal for 400 CNG Buses in Pune, Citing Financial Risks
The Municipal Corporation of Pune (PMPML) faces resistance from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) over its plan to purchase 400 CNG buses, each measuring 12 meters in length. The MNS alleges potential financial losses amounting to Rs 350 crore associated with this procurement.
PMPML’s recent tender announcement for the acquisition of 400 CNG buses has sparked objections from the MNS, citing concerns over the chosen fuel type and its financial implications.
Expressing doubts about the viability of the investment, MNS highlights the possibility of substantial financial setbacks and urges PMPML to reconsider its decision. Furthermore, the party advocates for the exploration of electric buses as a more environmentally sustainable alternative.
In response to these concerns, MNS has taken formal action by lodging complaints with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Vikram Kumar and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). The complaints underscore the need for intervention from relevant authorities and a reassessment of PMPML’s decision, emphasizing the purported financial risks and advocating for a greener approach to public transportation.
