Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray commenced the party registration campaign from the central party office in Pune, post his recovery from surgery.

Raj was in Pune on Thursday and kickstarted the campaign by filling the first application form. The campaign will be conducted across Maharashtra, said party leaders.

“I am thankful to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena for making me a member of the party,” he said in his distinct sarcastic tone of speech.

A large number of MNS workers and volunteers from Pune were present to greet and be part of the campaign. Raj appealed to the youth to make the campaign a success.

Raj explained that after registration, a message will be sent to the person’s registered mobile number and each month, messages will be sent to the subscribers. He, however, did not elaborate on the nature of the message.

“So far, the registration drive has always been carried out only in Mumbai. This time, I decided to start it from Pune. The registration of membership has to be carried out, as per the norms of the election commission. Though we started it in 2019, it was halted due to the pandemic,” he said.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sainath Babar former corporator and MNS Pune city head said, “We spoke about the campaign in the meeting. We have been asked to enroll a maximum number of people.”
