Mobile immersion tanks in Wanowrie
Local Corporator of Pune Municipal Corporation Prabhag 25 Wanowrie Kalinda Punde has set up a mobile immersion tank for the devotees who can immerse the idols.
Since this year too Pune Municipal Corporation has kept the immersion tanks closed and has allotted one immersed tank to each corporator.
Punde said, “There are four fixed points in Wanowrie where the immersion tanks will stay such as Jambhulkar chowk, Azad Nagar, Samvidhan choowk, Mahadji Shinde Chhatri, while in other areas they will move around. There are 12 mobile immersion tanks in the area which will move around Prabhag 25. Last year, we had collected over 5,000 idols through these mobile tanks. These are later handed over to PMC which are taken to collection centers identified by the civic body.”
Kalinda Punde said, “This is an initiative from my end to provide a facility to the devotees to immerse idols. This will move around in the area.”
The mobile immersion tanks were inaugurated at the hands of MLA Pune Cantonment constituency Sunil Kamble, Pune City Bharatiya Janata Party Jagdish Mulik, local corporator Kalinda Punde and Dhanraj Ghogare, Mahesh Punde and residents of Wanowrie.
