Pune Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale, along with all department heads, conducted a meeting to review ongoing development projects and address civic issues in the city. The discussions spanned various topics, including equitable water supply, roads, bridges, traffic, HCMTR, encroachments, river rejuvenation, riverbank improvement, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and proposed projects for newly incorporated villages. It was also decided that review meetings will now be held monthly. Member of Parliament Murlidhar Mohol shared the details about the meeting held with the Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner and other department heads about water supply, traffic control, encroachments, and many others. 

Key Highlights of the Meeting : 

24×7 Equitable Water Supply Project  

Under the 24×7 Equitable Water Supply Project, work on 66 out of 88 water tanks has been completed, with the remaining 22 expected to be finished by June 2025. Additionally, 92 kilometers of a 102-kilometer large-diameter pipeline have been laid, and 967 out of 1,224 distribution pipelines have been installed. Three out of five pumping stations are operational, and 168,000 of 232,000 water meters have been installed. This initiative has also been extended to the newly incorporated villages within municipal limits. Once completed, this project is expected to reduce water leakage and ensure uniform and sufficient water supply across Pune.

River Rejuvenation Project : 

Nine out of 11 HTP plants have been completed under the river rejuvenation project, and six kilometers of the planned 53 kilometers of the main line have been laid. The administration has been directed to expedite the remaining work, which is being funded by the central government in phases.

Riverbank Improvement Project  : 

Work on a 3.7-kilometer stretch of the 44-kilometer-long Mula-Mutha riverbank is currently underway as part of the riverbank improvement project.

Housing Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana : 

In the first phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 2,600 homes have been handed over to residents. In the second phase, the construction of 4,175 homes across five locations in the city is progressing steadily.

Urban Flood Control Measures  : 

The central government has approved a fund of ₹250 crore under the Urban Flood Control scheme, with ₹75 crore already disbursed to the state government for flood control measures in Pune.

Road Repairs and Maintenance : 

Municipal officials reported that 20,000 potholes in Pune have been filled. All remaining potholes are to be addressed promptly. Resurfacing of 15 out of 33 major roads is set to be completed by January 30, with 17 more roads scheduled for repair in the next phase.

Pending Road Projects : 

– Shivane-Kharadi Road: Requires land acquisition, with state government assistance assured.  

– Katraj-Kondhwa Road: ₹140 crore has been approved, and land acquisition is set to begin shortly.  

– HCMTR: Discussions with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be held soon to expedite the project.

Action Against Encroachments  

The administration has been directed to clear footpaths of encroachments without succumbing to external pressure. Immediate action has also been ordered against individuals setting up unauthorized settlements on roadsides. The administration noted strong public reactions on this issue.

This comprehensive review aims to accelerate Pune’s development projects and address pressing civic concerns efficiently.
