Pune: If someone is travelling by MSRTC bus and carrying a Rs 2000 note for the ticket, they need to remember that Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has decided not to accept it after September 28.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sachin Shinde, Divisional Traffic Officer, MSRTC Pune, confirmed the decision by stating that MSRTC has received orders to stop accepting Rs 2000 notes in all MSRTC buses from September 29 onwards. Hence, commuters can make use of Rs 2000 notes for bus tickets only till September 28.

It is worthy to note that the Reserve Bank of India has given the deadline of September 30 as the deadline to accept the notes.

Earlier, MSRTC had given instructions to all buses in all areas not to accept Rs 2000 notes. Now, it has a validity of 15 days only, after which Rs 2000 notes will be withdrawn from usage after September 28.

According to the instructions given by the ST administration, all the passengers should keep spare money with them, otherwise, the Rs 2000 note will not work. As the last date of Rs 2000 notes usage for ST tickets is September 28, travellers get only 15 days to demonetize Rs 2000 notes.
