MSRTC To Launch ‘Shivai’ AC Bus Service From Pune Station To Borivali Via Sion
Pune, January 26, 2026: Responding to increasing passenger demand, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has decided to introduce the ‘Shivai’ air-conditioned bus service on the Pune Station–Borivali route via Sion. The service will be operated from the Shivajinagar bus depot and is aimed at providing a safe, comfortable, and time-saving travel option for commuters.

According to MSRTC officials, the Shivai AC buses are known for their enhanced safety standards, passenger comfort, and reliable schedules. Authorities have appealed to travellers to make maximum use of the newly introduced service.
Route and Timings:
The bus service will operate on the Pune Station–Chinchwad–Sion–Borivali route. Daily departures have been scheduled at 6 am, 7 am, 8 am, and 9 am in the morning, followed by services at 1 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm in the afternoon, and another departure at 4 pm in the evening.
Booking Facilities:
To ensure passenger convenience, advance ticket reservations can be made at Pune Station bus stand, Vallabhnagar, Chinchwad Station, and Nigdi. In addition, commuters can book tickets online through the MSRTC mobile application or via the official MSRTC website.
Key Features of Shivai Service:
Describing the service as secure, air-conditioned, and efficient, Divisional Controller Arun Siya said the Shivai buses are designed to reduce travel fatigue and save time, especially on long intercity routes. He urged passengers to take advantage of the service for a smoother travel experience between Pune and Mumbai’s suburban areas.
PMPML Announcement System Concern:
Meanwhile, issues have resurfaced with the next-stop audio announcement system on several Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses. The system, introduced for passenger convenience, has reportedly stopped functioning on many buses, particularly those operated by private contractors.
Regular commuters, especially those unfamiliar with the city, rely heavily on stop announcements to navigate Pune’s public transport network. With the system not functioning consistently, passengers are often forced to seek help from conductors or fellow travellers, causing inconvenience and highlighting the need for urgent corrective measures by the transport authorities.
