Mumbai Bengaluru Highway : PMC takes action against unauthorized shops and showrooms on Baner road

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) demolished unauthorized shops & showrooms which also include furniture showrooms on the Baner side of the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway on Thursday.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sameer Gadai, Junior Engineer, PMC Encroachment Department said, “There are several such unauthorized shops & showrooms here on both sides of the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway. Today, various such shops have been demolished & around 1 lakh square feet of encroached area has been cleared. Action on the rest of the shops will be taken in the coming days.”

The said construction falls under the restricted area of ​​the Defense Department, HEMRL. Due to this furniture mall, there was traffic stress on the highway. Complaints were made from HEMRL regarding this. Action will be taken on the rest of the shops next week.

On this occasion, a cutter machine, two cranes, gas cutter, breaker, 15 workers, and police personnel participated. Hinjewadi Police Station Senior Police Inspector and other staff were also present.

The said operation was completed by Sunil Kadam, Rahul Rasale, and Sameer Gadai under the guidance of Superintending Engineer Yuvraj Deshmukh, and Executive Engineer Bipin Shinde.
