Mumbai Pune Expressway Mega Block April 2026 Traffic Update, Timings, Diversion Routes
Traffic on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway will be shut for maintenance near Kusgaon on April 23 and 24. Check timings, diversions via NH-48, and travel advisory.

Pune/Mumbai: Commuters planning to travel via the Mumbai–Pune Expressway over the next two days are advised to review traffic restrictions in advance, as a scheduled “mega block” will temporarily halt vehicular movement.

The block has been announced due to maintenance work on a bridge near Kusgaon (Km 58/500). Authorities will undertake shuttering removal and painting work during this period, necessitating a complete closure of traffic in phases.According to officials, on April 23, traffic heading towards Mumbai will remain completely closed from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. During this time, vehicles will be diverted via National Highway 48 through Kiwale–Dehu Road–Talegaon, before rejoining the expressway near Kusgaon toll plaza.

Similarly, on April 24, traffic moving from Mumbai towards Pune will be fully suspended between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Vehicles will be rerouted from Kusgaon toll plaza via Dehu Road and Kiwale, connecting back to NH-48 and then continuing towards Pune on the regular route.

Traffic police have urged motorists to plan their journeys in advance and opt for alternate routes during the block hours to avoid unnecessary delays. Officials emphasized that prior planning can help commuters avoid being stranded in congestion.

The advisory comes in the wake of recent severe traffic snarls on the expressway, including a major jam caused by an accident near the Amrutanjan Bridge, where long queues of vehicles were reported and commuters were stuck for hours.

Authorities have appealed to travelers to cooperate and follow designated diversions to ensure smoother traffic flow during the maintenance period.
