Mumbai-Pune expressway : Private bus collides with trailer ; 1 dead, 7 injured

On 10th December (Sunday) midnight, a private bus collide with a trailer in Khopoli on Mumbai-Pune expressway. The bus driver is dead & 7 passengers are injured.

As per further information shared by a Highway State Police officer, a Vaibhav Travels Private Bus No MH-09-GJ-9630 was plying on from Mumbai to Pune on Mumbai-Pune expressway at 1:40 am on 10th December. 

The bus driver Shirish Rajaram Dhekle was driving the bus. When he reached near Khopoli, the bus driver lost control of the bus and collided with a trailer no RJ-14-JU- 9745. In this accident, left side of the bus has been completely destroyed.

Raju Gawde, the second driver, sitting on the left side of the bus, beside Shirish Dhekle, died on the spot. His dead body was sent to Khopoli Municipality hospital immediately. The 7 injured passengers in the bus are identified as Shailesh Shetke, Pradeep Shivaji Chavan, Sudhir Bhagwat, Rahul Bhagwat, Rohit Bhosale, Sneha Mehta, Jitesh Chaturvedi.

From the above-mentioned injured passengers, the first five passengers have been sent to MGM Hospital, Kamothe and the other 2 injured have been sent to Lokmanya Tilak Hospital – Pune. The accident-affected bus has been towed to a safe place with the help of a crane and the traffic on the accident site has been cleared & is running smoothly.

Along with this, another accident has taken place on the expressway on Sunday midnight in which a milk tanker collided with a car. The tanker driver died on the spot in this accident. The accident took place around 12 am on 10th December midnight. As soon as the incident was reported, with the help of the police and local residents, the driver was taken out by breaking the cabin of the tanker with the help of a crane. The accident led to congestion on the road for a brief period.
