Heavy rain has been pouring across Mumbai and its suburbs today, leading to severe traffic jams on various roads and causing several trains to be halted due to waterlogged tracks.

In light of these conditions, a holiday has been declared for schools in Mumbai tomorrow. The announcement was made by School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar during an interview. He explained that the decision was taken to prevent any inconvenience for students commuting to school in the morning.

Kesarkar noted, “A red alert has been issued for Mumbai starting tomorrow morning. Due to the large amount of water accumulated in the city, it will take an additional day for the situation to normalize. To ensure students are not affected by these conditions, schools have been declared closed. Additionally, the control room is closely monitoring the situation to facilitate water drainage.”

The Mumbai Municipal Corporation has confirmed this announcement. According to their update, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall until 8:30 am tomorrow. Considering the safety of students, all schools and colleges in Mumbai will remain closed on Thursday, September 26. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Administration has also urged citizens to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
