A compartment in the Mumbai-Gorakhpur Godan Express caught fire near Nashik Road Railway Station on Friday afternoon. No casualties were reported as emergency services quickly responded to the incident.

Railway officials halted the train immediately upon receiving reports of the fire. Railway police and administration officials quickly responded to the scene, ensuring the safety of all passengers. “The cause of the sudden fire is yet to be determined,” stated a railway spokesperson.

Passengers onboard experienced panic as smoke and flames engulfed the coach. The train came to a stop, and passengers were promptly evacuated.

Initial investigations suggest that smoke emerged from one of the coaches shortly after the train departed from Nashik Road Railway Station. Strong winds exacerbated the situation, leading to flames erupting from the compartment.

The train guard noticed the fire and halted the train, ensuring the safety of all passengers. Fire brigade personnel, railway police, and railway administration officials arrived promptly to combat the blaze. However, firefighters faced challenges due to a high-tension line near the train. Consequently, railway authorities decided to detach the affected coach from the rest of the train before extinguishing the fire. Efforts to douse the flames were then initiated.

Despite the ordeal, there were no casualties reported, thanks to the swift response of emergency services and railway authorities. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
