Navi Mumbai Traffic Alert: Atal Setu to Remain Closed for Marathon on February 16 – Check Alternate Routes
The Navi Mumbai Traffic Police have announced traffic restrictions on the Atal Setu (Mumbai Trans Harbour Link – MTHL) due to a marathon organized by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on Sunday, February 16.
To ensure smooth execution of the event and prevent congestion, vehicle movement on Atal Setu will be restricted from 11 PM on February 15 to 1 PM on February 16. The directive was issued by Assistant Police Commissioner (Traffic) and Additional In-charge Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vitthal Kubde, under Sections 115 and 116 (1) (A) (B) of the Motor Vehicles Act, as per a Maharashtra Government notification dated September 27, 1996.
Traffic Restrictions & Marathon Route
The marathon is scheduled from 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM, covering the stretch from Shivdi in Mumbai to Chirle in Navi Mumbai. During this period, only emergency and marathon-related vehicles will be allowed access to Atal Setu.
Road Closures
- Atal Setu (Shivdi-Nhava Sheva Sea Link) – No vehicular movement allowed.
- Affected Ramps (Nhava Sheva Traffic Division)
- Descent: Mumbai to Shivajinagar, Ulwe
- Ascent: Shivajinagar, Ulwe to Mumbai
- Affected Ramps (Uran Traffic Division)
- Descent: Mumbai to Pune
- Ascent: Pune to Mumbai
- Ascent: Nhava Sheva to Mumbai
- Descent: Mumbai to Nhava Sheva
Alternative Routes
- Vehicles from Uran – Take Gavan Phata to reach Vashi.
- Vehicles from Pune via Atal Setu – Use Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway to Belapur, then proceed to Vashi.
- Vehicles from Old Mumbai-Pune Highway, Konkan, and Panvel – Route via Gavan Phata to Vashi.
- Light vehicles from JNPT – Take Gavan Phata to Ulwe-Amra Road, then cross Vashi Creek Bridge.
Exempted Vehicles
Emergency services such as fire brigades, police, ambulances, and marathon-related vehicles will be permitted. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience
