Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided not to increase property tax rates for the financial year 2025-26. The decision comes amid the absence of an elected civic body and the possibility of municipal elections in the upcoming year.

Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale confirmed that the civic standing committee has approved the proposal to keep tax rates unchanged. The last property tax hike by PMC was in 2015-16, when it was increased by 10%.

Tax Benefits & Discounts Continue

PMC will continue offering a 5-10% discount on property tax for buildings that adopt vermicomposting, rainwater harvesting, and other eco-friendly initiatives.

Action Against Property Tax Defaulters

To recover pending property tax dues, PMC has launched a strict drive, which includes sealing defaulters’ properties and cutting off their water supply.

There will also be no changes in the entertainment tax for films, plays, music concerts, circuses, and wrestling events within Pune’s municipal limits.

The decision is expected to provide relief to property owners while helping PMC recover long-pending tax dues
