November 2024: Bank Holidays for Up to 13 Days; Check City-Wise Schedule
Bank branches across India will be closed for several days in November, based on regional holidays and weekends.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released its November 2024 holiday calendar, listing the dates when bank branches across various states will close. While banking operations will continue on mobile and internet platforms, physical branches will observe up to 13 closure days, including regional holidays and weekends.
However, not all branches nationwide will close simultaneously, as holidays vary by state and occasion.
Diwali Amavasya (Laxmi Pujan)/Deepawali/Kut/Kannada Rajyothsava: November 1
Diwali (Bali Pratipada)/Balipadyami/Laxmi Puja (Deepawali)/Govardhan Pooja/Vikram Samvant New Year Day: November 2
- Chhath (Evening Arghya): November 7
- Chhath (Morning Arghya)/Wangala Festival: November 8
- Egaas-Bagwaal: November 12
- Guru Nanak Jayanti/Karthika Purnima/Rahas Purnima: November 15
- Kanakadasa Jayanti: November 18
- Seng Kutsnem: November 23
State wise Holidays:
- November 1: Diwali and Kannada National Festival – Tripura, Karnataka, etc.
- November 7 & 8: Chhath Puja – Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal.
- November 15: Guru Nanak Jayanti – Multiple states.
- November 18 & 23: Regional holidays in Karnataka and Meghalaya.
The November 2024 weekend bank closures are as follows:
- Sundays: November 3, 10, 17, 24
- Second Saturday: November 9
- Fourth Saturday: November 23
Additionally, state-specific holidays will see branch closures in selected regions. For example, banks in Bengaluru will close for Kanakadasa Jayanti, while branches in Agartala will remain open.
RBI categorizes holidays under three types: Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act; Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and Bank Account Closing Days. These holidays apply variably by state and may not be observed uniformly across all banking entities.
