Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) plans to auction 200 commercial properties that were seized in an effort to recover unpaid property tax.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ajit Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner, PMC Tax Department said, “As many as 200 commercial properties in Pune will be auctioned due to non-payment of property tax. Currently, the valuation of these properties is in process & soon the auction process will begin.”

As per information, in order to prepare for the auction in the coming new year, the PMC Tax Department has started the assessment process for these properties. It is anticipated to be finished by the end of next week.

A large amount of municipal revenue comes from property tax, and the department’s goal for this current fiscal year is to generate around two thousand crores rupees in property tax revenue. The PMC has put in place several strategies to accomplish this goal, with dues recovery being given top priority. The PMC is aggressively notifying tax defaulters who have accrued arrears totaling crores of rupees, fining them, and seizing their properties.

Similarly, due to non-payment of property tax, earlier in December, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had sealed the offices of 2 branches of Rosary School
