The Executive Officer Rajendra Shelke has informed that the granite work in the Garbha Griha (sanctum sanctorum) of Shri Vitthal Rukmini Mandir has started from 18th March (Monday). Also, a bullet proof glass has been installed for the protection of the idol. A meeting was conducted on 12th March (Tuesday) in which the decision had been taken regarding this.

The work of conservation and renovation of Shri Vitthal Rukmini temple is going on under the guidance of the Department of Archaeology with government funds. It is proposed to conduct Ashadhi Yatra before 2024 for the conservation of Shri Vitthal Rukminimata’s idol. However, due to the need to take necessary measures to protect the idol during the conservation work in the core, the darshan timings of the mandir have been changed. A decision was taken in this regard on March 12.

A 25-member committee was constituted to remove all the silver work from the temple. All the silver has been removed under the supervision of this committee and a bulletproof glass cover has been installed to protect the idol. Now, from March 18, the work of removing granite from the sanctum sanctorum has actually started, said Executive Officer Rajendra Shelke.
