A heated exchange between a passenger and a Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk (CCTC) over ₹50 change has gone viral on the microblogging platform X, triggering widespread reactions.

The video, recorded by the passenger, starts with a close-up of the officer’s name tag and then shifts to a cylindrical box filled with currency bundles, including ₹20 notes. The passenger narrates, “I gave him ₹50 for a Kandivali return ticket, but he said he doesn’t have change, even though there are plenty of ₹20 notes here. Let’s see how he refuses.”

When the passenger insisted on getting his change, the officer responded dismissively, saying, “Move aside,” and threatened to call the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Unwilling to back down, the passenger stood his ground.

The situation escalated when another individual suggested the passenger use a digital payment scanner. However, the passenger replied, “I don’t have a scanner.”

The video, captioned “Clash between a passenger and a CCTC officer over not giving change despite having money,” has garnered mixed reactions.

Many users criticized the CCTC officer for refusing to provide change, with one commenting, “The soul of the nation has perished.” Another wrote, “This is just a tactic so passengers leave without their change.”

However, others defended the officer, pointing out the challenges of dealing with insufficient small denominations. One user noted, “People bring ₹500 notes for tickets worth ₹10-20; it’s not possible to provide change to everyone.”
