Pawana Dam releases 5,600 cusecs water : dam filled to 100 percent capacity

PUNE: The Pawana Dam has attained its maximum capacity owing to the heavy precipitation in the catchment region. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has issued an urgent notification to the residents in the vicinity.

As per the information provided, 1,400 cusecs of water were discharged from the dam powerhouse. Furthermore, due to the ongoing rainfall, an additional 2,100 cusecs have been released, resulting in a total of 3,500 cusecs, which was subsequently raised to 5,600 cusecs by 2 pm.

The residents residing along the Pawana River are strongly advised to take necessary precautions and refrain from entering the river basin at any cost. It is imperative to remove any water pumps, agricultural equipment, or animals currently present in the river.

The local administration urges the citizens to inform those residing in low-lying areas about the situation and to take necessary precautions. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as the situation progresses.
