Pune: There is good news for all the pet lovers in the city. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is all set to establish the first-ever pet park on a 3.5 acre plot near Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park in the Katraj area.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Sarita Funde, Veterinary Superintendent, PMC said, “Currently, there are no government parks for pets in Maharashtra. Hence, the PMC has decided to start a park where all pets will come and have a good time. As of now, the PMC is inspecting the allotted 3.5 acre site, then the tendering and all other formalities will be completed post which the construction work will begin. We have been allocated a fund of Rs 1 crore from the PMC for the entire project.”

As per information shared by Dr Funde, the entire park will be developed using a public private partnership (PPP) strategy. No other civic projects are scheduled for the given space, hence the plot for the park was carefully picked. Hence, the central zoo authority (CZA) has agreed to set up a pet’s park on the site.

Some of the amenities of the pet park are jogging track, playground, grooming salon, swimming pool, parking and a pet clinic among others.

Hence, the PMC has said that the pet park will be completed in a year’s or one and a half years’ time after which all the pet owners can bring their pets to the park & have a good time.
