On behalf of the Taxation and Tax Collection Department of the Pimpri Chinchwad municipal Corporation, the survey of properties and new property tax registration campaign is underway. Due to this decision, a large amount of property have been brought under the tax ambit. Therefore, this decision will be revolutionary and citizens should respond to the property tax registration campaign on behalf of the municipal corporation.

Shekhar Singh, Commissioner, PCMC, said “We have not proposed any tax hike this year. No increase in annual rental values. However, we are trying to bring the unregistered properties in the city under the tax ambit. The Municipal Corporation intends to complete this project in any case in the next 15-18 months. Therefore, the income from municipal property tax is likely to double. This will help to strengthen the financial situation of the PCMC.”

Pradeep Jambhale-Patil, Additional Commissioner, PCMC, said “This survey is very important to increase the revenue of the Municipal Corporation. In this, the registration campaign of all properties will be done through this. All necessary assistance for this has been provided to the Tax Collection Department. The tax collection department is sure to make this survey a success. I am following up on this myself.”

Nilesh Deshmukh, Assistant Municipal Commissioner, PCMC Tax Department, said “Digital locker facility will be made available to these properties after all the properties come under tax registration campaign. So the overall quality of these properties will increase as compared to other cities. So these properties will be considered more reliable and legal than other cities. This will benefit the citizens. At the same time, the computer system of the municipality will be made the most user friendly and citizens will not have to take any effort to pay tax, get its discount and get updated information. Our aim is to make history by cracking down on tax collection offices.”

At present, many capital intensive projects are going on in the municipal corporation and in the next two to three years, the question will arise as to where the additional funds will be brought for its management in the future. If steps are not taken for this today, it is certain that the municipality will have to face a financial disaster. Keeping this situation in mind, after studying the overall property tax system, Commissioner Shekhar Singh has devised a plan for comprehensive property taxation and has given it a concrete shape.

It has been only three months since the implementation of the scheme and now its tangible form is beginning to be seen. There are currently signs that this comprehensive campaign will drastically change the overall financial condition of the municipality.

The tax collection department of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has finally collected tax of 640 crores in the financial year 2023-24 today. This year there is a possibility of earning 1 thousand crore rupees. The property survey and property tax registration drive is likely to add Rs 1500 crore to the municipal exchequer in the coming financial year in terms of past tax arrears and current demand.

The property tax registration campaign is likely to double the demand of the municipal corporation in the coming financial year. Therefore, the current financial condition of the Municipal Corporation is not capable enough. This project will strengthen the financial condition of the municipality. Considering the increasing speed of the Municipal Corporation and it will be possible to fund various development work projects. This will make it possible to provide quality services and facilities to the municipal taxpayers.
