Also, the tax collection department has already crossed the threshold of last year’s income.

Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner, PCMC, said “This is the first time that the auction process of confiscated properties is being implemented in the Municipal Corporation. Thirteen properties will be auctioned in the first phase. A phased auction process will be implemented for properties seized and still unpaid taxes. This process will be implemented throughout the year considering the total number of seized properties. Property owners should cooperate with the PCMC by paying their due tax immediately to avoid untoward action of property sale.”

Nilesh Deshmukh, Assistant Commissioner, PCMC Tax Department, said “Out of the Rs 682 crore property tax outstanding, more than 500 crore tax is owed to residential properties. Therefore, in this final phase of recovery, residential properties are being seized on a large scale. The focus is on property owners who do not pay taxes despite their ability to pay. Property owners in financial distress are being allowed to pay tax in a phased manner.”
