Pimpri-Chinchwad, April 28: Tension flared at 45 Shashwat Avenue residential society after a Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) team entered the premises with a JCB and removed a detachable shed installed by residents at their own expense.

According to society members, the shed was erected after the conveyance deed process was completed to provide protection from sunlight and rain within the society premises. Residents said the structure was temporary and placed within the boundaries of the society’s private property.

Residents alleged that the action was initiated after two society members lodged a complaint with the PCMC.

They also claimed that during the removal process, vehicle owners parked in the area were not given sufficient time to move their vehicles, leading to confusion and inconvenience in the parking area.

Society members further alleged that the operation caused damage to parts of the society’s structure and nearby property, prompting strong objections over the way the action was carried out.

Residents pointed out that many other housing societies in the area have similar sheds, raising concerns over what they described as selective action by the civic body.

The residents have now demanded that the municipal corporation explain the reason for the action and fix responsibility for the damage caused during the operation.

Meanwhile, officials concerned were unavailable for comment.

The incident has also sparked a larger debate over housing society rights after conveyance, the role of local authorities in internal disputes, and the need for fair and transparent civic action.
