PCMC issues advisory for Ganesh Utsav celebrations

Like last year, this year too the state government has put some restrictions on celebrating Ganeshutsav. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Mayor Usha Dhore and Commissioner Rajesh Patil informed that citizens should follow all Covid19 protocols and celebrate the Ganesh Utsav in an eco-friendly manner. Below are some guidelines issued by the civic authorities.

1. Use Shadu mati (clay), paper mache or easy dissolving material while making your idol. Avoid buying idols made from Plaster of Paris (PoP) as they dont get easily dissolved.

2. Home Ganpati idols should not be more than 2 feet height, while Ganesh mandals should not use idols which are beyond 4 feet height.

3. Use eco friendly, recyclable material in decoration.

4. Immerse idols at home or in artificial immersion tanks created by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. 

5. Vehicles shall be moved around the city where people can donate the idols and also hand over the nirmalya.

6. No permission to host any cultural programmes. Ganpati mandals are requested to host Aarti, darshan facility through online platforms.

7. No permission for processions to any Ganpati mandals.

8. Facility for thermal screening, following social distancing and all other Covid19 related protocols is mandatory.

A meeting was also held between Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate at Madhukar Pawale Hall in PCMC headquarters. The meeting was attended by Rajesh Patil, Commissioner, PCMC, Krishna Prakash, Commissioner, Pimpri Chinchwad Police, Vikas Dhakne, additional commissioner, PCMC, Additional Commssioner Of Police Sanjay Shinde, Sudhir Hiremath, Ashadevi Durgude, Sandeep Khot, Satish Ingale, Manchak Ippar, Anand Bhoite, Health officer Dr Anil Roy, Anna Bodade, assistant municipal Commissioner, Rajesh Agale, Sonam Deshmukh, Suchita Pansare, Shriniwas Dangat, Sitaram Bahure, Vijay Thorat, Umakant Gaikwad, Assistant commissioner of police Sagar Kawade, Prerna Katte, Shrikant Disale, Sanjay Navale Patil, N S Bhosale Patil, Sanjay Kulkarni, city engineer and others.

PCMC should organise meetings with local ward offices and ganesh mandals regarding the organising of the celebrations. Police should hold meetings with local Ganpati mandals by police station.
