Pune: A tender of Rs 312 crore has been issued by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation for the new administrative building which is to come up on the seven-acre land at the Auto Cluster in Chinchwad.

The civic body has invited bids for the new building which are to be submitted in the next 45 days. Once the bid is finalised, the building is expected to be constructed within a period of 3 years.

The total amount of new tender is Rs 312,20,32,838.

Earlier in 2019, a tender of Rs 246 crore was issued which was cancelled after the opposition from Nationalist Congress Party. This time aroumd, the tender amount has been increased by Rs 66 crores.

PCMC has planned 13 floors in the new building, which would prove useful for 50 years, as per sources from the civic body. Along with a spacious cabin for the Mayor and the other officials, the building will have a 5-floor parking space which can accommodate 500 four-wheelers and 2,500 two-wheelers. The building will also have a general body meeting hall with a capacity of 300 seats for the corporators. The estimated cost for the same will be close to Rs 400 crore.

“There is a need for the new building as the number of departments has increased and we are not able to accommodate everyone. There is limited seats even for the general public who visit us for various services. We have completed 35 years in the old building, so it is a must to plan for the new building as it requires three-four years for construction,” said Vikas Dhakane, additional commissioner.
